Myopia Awareness

Project Brightsight

Meet the Team

We are a passionate team dedicated to raising awareness about myopia and mobilizing the community to help fight it. With myopia on the rise, especially among children, we believe education and collective action are key to making a difference. Through outreach, fundraising, and community-driven initiatives, we strive to ensure that vision care is accessible to those in need. Together, we can spread awareness, support those affected, and work toward a future where clear sight is within everyone's reach.

What is Myopia?

IMG_2229.jpg

Myopia, or nearsightedness, is a common vision condition where distant objects appear blurry while close objects remain clear. It occurs when the eye's shape causes light to focus in front of the retina instead of directly on it. Myopia can develop due to genetic factors, prolonged near work (such as reading or screen use), and limited outdoor time. It often starts in childhood and can progress over time. Corrective options include glasses, contact lenses, and refractive surgery, while lifestyle changes like spending more time outdoors may help slow progression.

Our GoFundMe for Underprivileged Communities

Many underprivileged children with myopia struggle daily because they don’t have access to glasses. Without clear vision, they find it difficult to read, learn, and keep up in school, which can affect their future opportunities. Myopia, if left uncorrected, can worsen over time, making everyday tasks even more challenging. By supporting our GoFundMe, you can help provide these children with the glasses they need to see clearly and succeed.
